1. Background
Looking at the graph, you can see that samsung electronics’s revenue and profit have steadily increased since 2000. For example, in 2013 the sales are recorded about 200 trillion won and profit are recorded about 29 trillion won. And numerous products made by Samsung electronics are top ranked around the globe.
Today samsung hires 230 thousand employees who are divided into 90 thousand domestic employees and 145 thousand overseas employees. It has 217 branches around 67 countries. Then samsung brand value has steadily grown. In 2013, its’ brand value reached into 5th rank.
2. (1) Crisis
Samsung’s distribution route is getting more diverse because the number of global manufacturing point has increased and the distribution time and cost has increased because inventories have to get through individual enterprise inventory. So samsung has had difficulty in management because the stocks has been dispersed.
And This chart shows growing of total cost with increasing manufacturing point.
And This chart shows that when each warehouses are integrated into one centralized warehouse, past-integrated warehouses’s sum of inventory and after-integrated warehouse’s inventory are same. However, the latter case has less standard-deviation compared to the sum of former’s case.
