FOREST - WATER TOWER - DAY
A towering monolith, surrounded by tall oaks and
sycamores. The tower is immense. A single ladder runs up
to the top.
AT THE TOP
Just above the tree tops, the view is spectacular. CHUCK
GIEG, 16, sits thin and unsteady. Chucks gaze is drawn
upward -- to the building spring cumulus clouds. Chucks
older brother WILL, 18, stout, self assured, pulls himself
to the top.

ASH (V.O.)
I first saw the damn thing at that blasted cabin. The Necronomicon. An ancient Sumarrian text, bound in human flesh and inked in human blood. It contained bizarre burial rites, prophesies... and instruction for demon resurrection. It was never meant for the world of the living.

suddenly rains down from the sky. The trunks thump to the hard
ground, also rebounding in slow motion. Cleanly sawn,
branchless, palm-like trunks, they come to rest in the dust only
to be followed by a second cascade of lumber.
When the dust finally clears. the felled tree trunks lie in a
huge, log-jam in the desert.

EXT. MOUNTAIN CLIFF -
Bond hurtles over the side, going airborne, landing 100 feet below,
amidst boulders. In perfect Olympic form, he skis out, and down.
EXT. MOUNTAINSIDE -
Bond slaloms down, in and out of trees, to avoid detection. At the
bottom, where the snow thins, he comes to:
A ROCK OUTCROPPING.
Hiding behind the rock, Bond takes off his skis, knapsa
