After that, many Koreans turned their backs on Kim. However, this situation throws us a basic, fundamental question. Are Korean-Americans Koreans or Americans? This can be asked to Wie, too. Many Koreans are proud of her, and what she has achieved. And a lot of Koreans have shown much amount of joy when she performed well just like they have done to Se Ri Pak who is a KOREAN. However, if you look at the ESPN’s golf website and players’ profile, you will find the “/USA” right after her name.
Recently, Hines Ward, 2006 NFL MVP, visited Korea, his native country. He, as a so-called mixed-blooded, has brought up widespread public alarm about the concept of “pure” Korean. So, Michelle Wie along with Hines Ward has caused Koreans to think about their exclusiveness.
