그날 밤 식당
Captain Von Trapp and the children (who now wear dresses and suits) sit at a long dining table, waiting. Maria dashes in and stops.
본 트랩 대령과 서둘러 옷을 차려 입은 아이들이 긴 식탁 앞에 앉아서 기다리고 있다. 마리아가 뛰어들어와서 멈춘다.
MARIA Good evening.
안녕하세요
[She walks to her seat.]

THE CHILDREN Good evening, Fraulein Maria.

[Maria starts to sit in her chair and then leaps up.]

[A pine cone sits on her chair.]
솔방울이 의자 위에 놓여 있다.
CAPTAIN (mystified) Enchanting little ritual. Something you, uh, learned at the Abbey?
(어리둥절해하며) 재미있는 의식이네요. 수녀원에서 배운 것인가요?
MARIA No, it's, um, er ... um ... (patting her rear) ... rheumatism.
아니요, 음....(엉덩이를 두드리며)... 신경통이에요.
[Maria sits. The children glance at each other, surprised and relieved not to be punished for their practical joke. The Captain starts to eat. The children follow suit.]
마리아가 앉는다. 아이들은 자신들의 장난이 혼나지 않은 것에 대하여 놀라고 안도하며 서로의 눈치를 본다. 대령이 식사를 시작한다. 아이들이 뒤따라 앉는다.
MARIA Excuse me, Captain, but haven't we forgotten to thank the Lord?
실례지만, 대령님, 주님께 감사하는 것을 잊으신 것은 아니죠?
[The Captain, with a mouthful of food, stares at her for a second and reluctantly puts down his fork. Everyone folds their hands and bows their heads.]
음식을 한가득 입에 채운 대령은 그녀를 잠시 응시하고는 마지못해 포크를 내려놓는다. 모두가 손을 모으고 고개를 숙인다.
MARIA For what we are about to receive may the Lord make us truly thankful. Amen.

[Everyone starts to eat. Maria casts a shrewd glance around the table.]
