A-2 EBIT
① Trend

EBIT is a measure of a company’s profitability which leaves out interest and taxes.[17] The following is the way how to find the EBIT.

EBIT=Operating Revenue-Operating Expense+Non operating Income

PepsiCo has consistent growth of EBIT for 10 years except for 2000 & 2008. Both two cases decreased in EBIT without the decrease in Revenue. In 2008, Bottling equity income and Interest income were less than those of 2007. Moreover, Interest expense of 2008 is more than that of 2007. The reason of 2000 was same as 2008. In 2000 & 2008, therefore, EBIT decreased without the decrease in Revenue.

② Compared to Coca-cola

PepsiCo has consistent growth of EBIT for 10 years except for 2000 & 2008. Both two cases decreased in EBIT without the decrease in Revenue. Compared with EBIT of Coca-cola, we can know that EBIT of Coca-cola had been greater than that of PepsiCo except for 2006. We will see the case of 2006 in the part of Net income. However, the graph says that CAGR of PepsiCo is better than that of Coca-cola. That is one of the reasons that the stock price of PepsiCo is better than that of Coca-cola. The following is the reason why EBIT of PepsiCo has been smaller than that of Coca-cola despite of the better in Revenue

In annual report, we can see there is a population difference between two companies. So we can guess employ’s population affects EBIT or Net Income. Pepsi’s employees are larger than Coca’s. It means Pepsi’s cost will increase and EBIT or Net Income will decrease. And then we calculate Net Income/Employee. It will show how much net income is earned by a employee.
