1. Trait Theory vs. Behavior Theory
(1) Trait Theory
Trait theories of leadership consider personal qualities and characteristics that differentiate leaders from non-leader. The search for personality, social, physical, or intellectual attributes that would describe leaders and differentiate them from non-leaders goes back to the earliest stages of leadership research.
There are some limitation to apply this theory to general situation. The reason why this is that there are too many qualities to be a good leader and sometimes the qualities are contradict each other. In the real society, it is impossible to exist a leader who has the whole personal characteristics to be a good leader. Therefore, we decided to focus on the 'Behavior Theory' rather than 'Trait Theory'
(2) Behavior Theory
Behavior Theory came out in order to overcome some limitations of the Trait Theory. This Theory proposes that specific behaviors differentiate leaders from non-leader.
