2. The background concept of KM
In 21st century, Knowledge Management has become very important. Knowledge Management includes organization’s strategies and practices to identify, create, represent, distribute and enable adoption of insights and experiences. In other words, KM is a management strategy that controls and shares invisible knowledge or skill useful for development of company. Therefore, the purpose of KM is to intensify competitive power by managing intellectual property effectively. Especially, as modern company is beginning to focus on human-oriented system, the power of human resource means the power of whole company. Accordingly, maximizing the power of human resource leads to company’s performance enhancement and innovation.
Development or innovation of products is implemented by outsourcing or sourcing internally. Having consultant outside the company or outsourcing generates enormous costs for company. On the other hand, sourcing inside the organization can bring a huge decrease in costs and development of human resource. As a result, constructing an internal knowledge sourcing system which can maximize the effect of outstanding human resource power is necessary for modern companies. In this context, LG Uplus also introduced Blue-I information system as means of Knowledge Management.
