1. What is the Time-off System?
Labor Union
The organization that protects the worker’s right and interests.
Company assigns working time to Labor union officer.
Only acknowledges labor management time as the working time.
Introduced in 2009 by agreement of labor and management.
2. Why we choose
Hyundai Motor Company?
One of the biggest car companies in Korea.
Hyundai Motor company played a big role in making Time-off system.
One of the Hyundai Motors company’s labor officer committed suicide as a protest towards time-off system.
3. What Hyundai expected by adopting time-off system
Background of adopting time-off system
Hyundai gas the most powerful labor union in Korea that consists of 45,000 labor unionists.
Among many problems they had, the most sensitive problem was about the union-official system.
To overcome the struggles they had with its union
Employer-paid full-time union officials abused their power over issues.
