The movie is a true story about two boys, the son of a Nazi commandant and a Jewish boy. The background of this movie is based on Auschwitz Concentration Camp in World War II. The son of a Nazi commandant, Bruno, moves to Poland due to a transfer of his father. However, since there is no school in the moved place, he lives a boring life alone. He wanders along a barbed wire fence and, by chance, meets a boy in the striped pajamas, Shmuel, who is a Jewish concentration camp inmate. As they are too young to know each other’s situations, they start building friendship with the fence between them. One day, Shmuel goes to Bruno’s house to do the work of wiping cups and eats bread Bruno gave. But, when the Nazi commandant sees the situation, Bruno tells a lie that Shmuel stole the bread to him. After time passes, they make up and become friends again.
