본문내용
1609 AD: The Douay Old Testament is added to the Rheims New Testament (of 1582) Making the First Complete English Catholic Bible; Translated from the Latin Vulgate (80 Books).

1611 AD: The King James Bible Printed; Originally with All 80 Books. The Apocrypha was Officially Removed in 1885 Leaving Only 66 Books.

No common person could understand the Latin Bibles which the church read and taught.

But many common people could read the Bible because of translating the Bible into the English. Besides, the printing press made it possible for every man to know.

Tyndale New Testament (1525-1535)

Having God's Word available to the public in the language of the English, would have meant disaster to the church. If people were able to read the Bible in their own tongue, the church's income and power would crumble.
The Church burned distributions of the Tyndale New Testament and decided to strangle and burn Tyndale at the stake in 1536.

Matthew – Tyndale Bible (1537)

John Rogers printed
Matthew – Tyndale Bible under the
pseudonym "Thomas Matthew",
(an assumed name that had actually been used by Tyndale at one time)
as a considerable part of this Bible
was the translation of Tyndale,
whose writings had been condemned by the English authorities.

Douay-Rheims Bible(1582 - 1610)

The Douay-Rheims Bible is a translation of the Bible from the Latin Vulgate into English.
The New Testament was published in one volume with extensive commentary and notes in 1582.
The Old Testament followed nearly thirty years later in two volumes; the first volume in 1609, the second in 1610.
