2) Before implement the ERP system in Shell Canada

Contractors had to send summarized invoices to Shell Canada, and it would take a contractor between 8 to 20 hours to prepare. Then, each invoice is reviewed by the territory manager and then forwarded to the head office for payment processing, and it would take another 16 to 30 hours per month. At the head office, another 200 hours of work was performed for entering invoice data to the payment system manually. This process used to be delayed when an error occurred.

3) After implement the ERP system in Shell Canada

The ERP solution solved there problem by providing an integrated web-based service order, invoicing, and payment submission system. With the ERP system, it takes only a few minutes for a contractor to transfer information to the manager. The contractors’ monthly summarized invoices are generated automatically, and if there is an issue or concern with one invoice item, the other items on the invoice can still be processed for payment.

4) Benefits with the ERP system in Shell Canada

The ERP system can help speed up maintenance and repair operations at the Shell’s refineries. Workers at the refineries can use the ERP system to access information directly from a centralized database. Secondly, ease of use. The ERP system has a portal-like interface that allows workers to access the functions and information they need easily.

5) Key factor for successful ERP system implementation of Shell Canada

An important part of any successful ERP implementation is training end users to learn how to utilize the system and to teach them about the functions and abilities of the ERP system. Also, Shell Canada offered its personnel both formal and informal ERP training. This not only helped promote end-user acceptance of the ERP system, but also greatly increased employees’ intentions to use the ERP system in their daily work
