At the beginning of the film, the main character went to the hospital to inquire about the plastic surgery, saying that "I just want to live like a normal person even one day, not because of the vanity ". and it was the most important reason for doing the plastic surgery which she thought important and invaluable consumption for her. the real meaning of consumption for her is the convenience of living.
2) The motives of consumption
In fact she did not like herself too and wanted to be more beautiful and slimmer without the idea of doing the plastic surgery at first. but Han sang jun on whom she had a secret crush showed friendly concern about her, at the same time she felt embarrassed because of her ugly face. so she determined doing the plastic surgery. This determination dependent on other people implied that the motivation of consumption was from Han sang jun.
She also made the decision owing to the loss of social status and competitiveness . Having potential but without beautiful face made her be a lip-singer unfortunately. At last people make the decisions of consumption according to the frustration for love or something they can not get.
4. Social recognition about plastic surgery
Through dialogues of the characters the social awareness on the plastic surgery was expressed in the movie. It is not the theme that woman should be beautiful. It shows us the women's desire of getting more beautiful and the social awareness on those women. The words of the plastic surgeon told us that how much the popular media affect our life.
