Ⅰ. Getting Started
Apple Inc. established in 1976 by Steve Wozniak and Ron Wayne is well known for its detailed consideration of Human-Machine interface. "Products of apple do not come along with manuals introducing functions in detail because there is no need for such thing." This is a quote from someone we know very well, professor Sung Youngshin, implying that even though people know nothing about the product, they can simply learn to use it by playing it around a little.

GRAPHIC
DESIGN
Graphic designs of interface is a sub-part of iPad’s human interface. It is what visualizes user-interface to link human with interface. However, perfect as it may seem, there are still significant number of loopholes inherent in iPad's interface graphic designs. At a superficial glance, it may seem nothing more than a visualized form of the interface. However, the fact that inadequately designed interface can interfere with human-machine performance caught our group's attention.
Ⅱ. Problems and Solutions
2.1 Ambiguous Design of Calendar
2.1.A Problem Statement
When we use ‘calendar’ in iPad, there is a big problem regarding visual perception. The problem is that it is not easy to discriminate holidays from weekdays, because fonts and colors for those two are same.
We can analyze this problem by using the concept of Gestalt grouping. Our mind system follows the rules of grouping stimuli to perceive an order or a form in a basic sense. Those rules are the principles of proximity, similarity, continuity, closure and connectedness. The problem regarding display of holidays can be described in terms of similarity. According to the principle of similarity, similar shaped objects tend to be perceived as one object, and different shaped objects aren't.
