-From 1840, Dickinson spent 7yrs at Amherst Academy.
‘very bright’ and ‘excellent student’.
-Attended the South Hadley Female Seminary, but after only one year at the seminary, returned in 1848 to Amherst where she began her life of seclusion.
-Around 1850 she began writing poetry.
