마오리는 뉴질랜드 원주민이고 옛날엔 식인종이었다고 한다. 이 마오리족은 이웃 부족과의 대결에서 승리하면 전사들은 그에 대한 자랑의 표시로서 적군의 귀나 코 등을 모으고 적군의 살점을 먹는 것으로 우월감을 확보하며 이웃 부족에는 경고의 표시
