첫 만남을 가진 애비와 이븐은 서로를 의식하며 신경전을 벌인다. 애비의 적극적인 표현에도 불구하고 자신의 감정을 인정할 수 없던 이븐은 ‘아버지에 대한 복수’라는 명분이 있다는 것을 깨닫고 애비와 사랑을 나눈다. 한편 캐버트는 아들을 낳아주겠다는 애비의 약속에 기대감에 찬다.
