On top of that, there is more important reason. Before I came to NCC, I was a student of Hongik University in Korea. A few days after I got into the university, my mother passed away by heart attack. A friend’s death is tragic enough to make a person’s life miserable. Imagine what her death did to mine. She was the hope of my life that shed light and guided me. She was the greatest mentor, supporter and believer. She used to tell me that the God sent her to this world to raise me to be one of the greatest people in the earth. I made a lot of trouble in my life that definitely let her down, but her belief toward me was never shaken. She never had a doubt about me. I was extremely shocked and felt as if I had lost everything when she died, even the meaning of my existence. I gave up almost everything. The only two things I couldn’t give up were the precious memory of her and English which she mostly wanted me to learn. My father tried to put me back in a normal life. He sent me to school by force, but I wasn’t interested at all. I was a person who had given up almost everything.
While I couldn’t let her go and was suffering in pain, my academic performance was a disaster. I was absent many times. I screwed up everything except English courses. I think she wanted to send me study abroad and that is why she emphasized the importance of English to me. I was attending the school because of my father, but it didn’t work at all. I couldn’t recover from the shock.
