*The waveforms of consonants

The places of articulation are reflected in the differences in some of the principal manners of articulation which are stop, nasal(no pattern), fricative(no pattern, random noise), approximant and in the differences between voiced and voiceless sounds.









▶Nasal : there is pattern
Burst : stop closure
Fricative : no pattern, random noise






*The articulation of vowel sounds

Vowel chart


*Tense vowel is longer pronounced than lax vowel.
*The differences between i and I are the longness and quality.
*Rounded and unrounded means lips gesture.
*Tense vowel tends to be diphthong.

The targets for vowel gestures
1) the height of the body of the tongue
2) the front-back position of the tongue
3) the degree of lip rounding

*The sounds of vowels

Pitch : the vowel is actually spoken, being produced by the vibrating vocal folds
Overtone pitch : the shape of the resonation cavities of the vocal tract
