본문내용
Intermodal system
Intermodal involves using more than one mode of travel where all parts of the transportation network are effectively connected and coordinated.
Today, intermodal is necessary to almost every type of logistics activity
Especially, role of container in intermodal is becoming more important
Intermodal terminal?
Intermodal terminals contribute directly to the outcome of developing a seamless freight and logistics system that enhances global competitiveness by reducing transport costs while meeting business requirements.
What is ICD?
facilities located inland or remote from ports which offer services for the handling, temporary storage and customs clearance of containers and general cargo that enters or leaves the ICD in containers
->Decrease the delivery date, logistics cost
The features of Sea & Air intermodal mode
Faster than Sea transportation and cheaper than air transportation
(generally , Sea & Air transportation is cheaper by 60% than air transportation)
Reduce the cost of transportation required for the stock
Responsibility on freight is ambiguous
(damage, delay of freight …)
Different container sizes and capacities are not inter-changeable
