1. Learner-Centered Instruction
As the term implies, Learner-Centered Instruction is curricula or specific techniques that focuses on learner’s needs, interest, goals, and preferences. And this method gives control to the students and includes student’s input and suggestion.

Learner-Centered Instruction helps to improves students’ sense of intrinsic motivation. So the students, themselves, are involved in their own discovery of knowledge. And they feel the responsibility of their own learning process.

This method also allows students’ creativity.
Moreover, this method allows the students to sense the feeling of “ownership”. The students feel that they are important and part of the class. Therefore, this can enhance the students’ self-worth.

2. The role of the teacher
The role of the teacher is giving feedback and direction to students and not instruction. He/she works as a facilitator, helping students in learning. Usually, the teacher does not presuppose objectives in advance. And the teacher focuses the teaching materials on practical use.

When applying this method in class, some teachers do not feel comfortable giving students’ the power when they are only beginners of language learning. However, teachers can offer them certain choices.
