Worrying about the side-effects of CAFTA: agriculture, jobs, intellectual property right, Each country government seemed to try to quash a contrary opinion rather than prepare a countermeasure. In Costa Rica, As many as one hundred thousand people who worried its side-effects demonstrated against the CAFTA. But by approving the bill about treating intellectual property right problem, the parliament removed the last chain joined. Guatemala farmer's union clamored for a bill to compensate for the damage because of agricultural products from USA which are subsidized enormous. But there was no result. And after the CAFTA the fears of it became a reality, but the situation wasn't better. Agriculture in Central America was replaced by manufacturing industry and service industry, the agricultural land decreased from 40%(in 2001) to 7.4%(in 2008). Especially price of these countries which can't control the balance of demand and supply of foods was worsened by fluctuating international grains prices. In 2008 a food crisis, El Salvador, the cost of monthly basic foods per person was $44.8 increased by $6.4 than last year.Central America's governments must seek a solution to urgently about the food and agriculture problem but resultingly, there was nothing to show. The result of study, We can't find clear policies, if aught there be, it would be less effective. On the contrary, Side-effects have occurred continually including to Guatemala's ISD; Investor State Dispute. Therefore, the solution must be sought as soon as possible Fundamental solution is still unclear, but it appears in the form of revised requirements.
