EXT. SAWYERS BACKYARD--DAWN
Elegiac music murmurs as three female and barefoot PAIRS OF
LEGS in skirts break from tableau to gently engage in Croquet.
A blue

From the back, we see the blond haired kid sit up from his
bed. He stretches, and then walks over to his closet.
We still only see the boy from the back as he reaches in his
closet and pulls out an orange coat.
The kid puts his coat on, then turns to camera and pulls the
hood shut, so that we never get a good look at his face.
MOTHER (O.S.)
KENNY! YOURE GONNA BE LATE FOR CHURCH!!
Pardon.
- Excuse me, signor.
Well, my second husband,
Mr. Hubbard, would have raised hell.
No place for my makeup bag,
no ice in my drinking water,
and the hot water burps as it
comes out of the faucet.

EXT. OCEAN/UNDERWATER -- DAY 3
Blue, deep and featureless, the twilight of five hundred feet down.
PROPELLER SOUND. Materializing out of the blue limbo is the enormous but
sleek form of an Ohio-class SSBN ballistic missile submar
water on the floor...
ANGLE ON SLEEPING EYES - Between waves of light they snap open and
dart about in confusion.
ON JONATHAN WALKER as he sits up. Water splashes. Hes in a tub
of long-cold water. His neck aches like hes been sleeping forever.
TIGHT ON WALKER - hes in his early thirties, dark featured.
HIS P.O.V. - looking around the room. Everythings strange,
unfamiliar.
He stands, steps from th
water. Quietly, he floats to the bottom?
[There뭩 a dissolve to the same pool. The onscreen titles read 밫HREE MONTHS EARLIER. A large crowd of people are standing around cheering. The boy we saw a minute ago is participating in a swimming race. He comes in first place and gets a standing ovation.]
BOY: Yes!
