본문내용
Have you ever tried English food?
What do you know about English food?
Is there any different features in eating habits from other countries?
(Attach the pictures of Yorkshire-pudding and meat pie on the board)

Look at these pictures. Have you ever seen these?
What do you think these are made of?
Let’s think about the materials that are used for the food with your partner.
(After some mins, elicit some answers from students and tell them the answers)
When you roast beef, there is oil from the meat. What do you do with it?
This Yorkshire-pudding is made of the oil from the roasted beef. Do you want to try it?
What do you think is in this pie, then?
There is meat inside. We can only find some fruits such as apples or pineapples in the pie here, but the British enjoy the meat pie. Does it look delicious?

Ok, Look at the blackboard and read the objectives of today’s lesson together.
Ok, as we have read just now, we are going to learn British eating habits and find the differences from the other countries, the U.S. and Canada.

First of all, close the books. We are not going to use the textbook today.
(T brings small basket for a lot)

Step 1)
In this basket, there are some papers which British eating habits are written on. All the passages have different context. Pick a sheet of paper from this basket for your group, read the passage and figure out the meaning together with your group members. You cannot open your books.

Passage 1.

In many countries breakfast is a snack rather than a meal, but the traditional English breakfast is a full meal. Some people have a cereal or porridge to begin with. Then comes a substantial, usually cooked, course such as bacon, eggs, and sausages or, sometimes, even fish. Ham is also a breakfast speciality. Afterwards comes toast, with butter and marmalade, and perhaps some fruit. Tea or coffee is drunk with the meal. Many English people now take such a full breakfast only on Sunday morning.

Passage 2.

Lunch is often no more than a snack. The usual lunch menu includes a sandwich, a meat pie, a bag of potato chips and a salad. soup and bread with cheese are traditional snacks for lunch as well.

Passage 3.

At dinner there may be a first course such as soup. The main course will often be meat or fish with potatoes and other vegetables, all on the same plate and perhaps with a sauce. Another traditional main course is the stew.

Passage 4.

Most people have a cup of tea, perhaps with a snack, sometime during the morning and afternoon. They love to drink tea so that they have six times of tea break a day. Sweet snacks such as muffin and scone are often eaten.

Step 2)
(Giving Ss the handout)
When you finish reading and discussing about it in your group, one member of your group will stand up and read it out loud for other classmates to let them know about the British eating habits that only your group knows.
When another group tells you the information about the British eating habits, you need to write them down in the appropriate space in the table.
