1. Brief Introduction to the Companies and the Industry in which they compete.

(1) Coca-Cola Company (CCC)
The Coca-Cola Company is the largest manufacturer, distributor and marketer of nonalcoholic beverage concentrates and syrups in the world. The Company were incorporated in September 1919 under the laws of the Sate of Delaware and succeeded to the business of a Georgia corporation with the same name that had been organized in 1892. Finished beverage products sold in the United States since 1886, are now sold in more than 200 countries.
They manufacture beverage concentrates and syrups, which they sell to bottling and canning operations, fountain wholesaler and some fountain retailers, as well as finished beverages, which they sell primarily to distributors. They own more than 450 brands, including diet and light beverages, waters, enhanced water, juices, and juice drinks, teas, coffees, and energy and sport drinks.
The Company competes in the nonalcoholic beverages segment of the commercial beverages industry. Of the approximately 53 billion beverage servings of all types consumed worldwide every day, beverages bearing trademarks owned by or licensed to them account for approximately 1.5 billion. Their worldwide sales of the products accounted for approximately 10 percent of total worldwide sales of nonalcoholic beverage products. PepsiCo, Nestle, and Cadbury Schweppes plc are their major competitors.
Their ready-to-drink nonalcoholic beverages account for the highest sales volumes in the second and third calendar quarters. In 2007, concentrates and syrups accounted for approximately 53 percent of the Company’s total concentrate sales.
Their goal is to use their Company’s assets to become more competitive and to accelerate growth in a manner that creates value for their shareowners.

(2) Pepsi Bottling Group (PBG)
The Pepsi Bottling Group, Inc. is the world’s largest manufacturer, seller and distributor of Pepsi-Cola beverages. PBG was incorporated in Delaware in January, 1999, as a wholly owned subsidiary of PepsiCo, (PepsiCo) Inc. to effect the separation of most of PepsiCo’s company-owned bottling business. PBG manages and reports operating results through three reportable segments: US & Canada, Europe (which includes Spain, Russia, Greece and Turkey), and Mexico. U.S. & Canada is the dominant driver of the company, generating 68% of the whole volume, 76% of the net revenues and 83% of the operating income.
The fastest growing category of its business is non-carbonated beverages. Second is bottled water, and the third is Lipton Iced Tea. PBG’s non-carbonated beverages also include strong brands with Starbucks Frapuccino in the ready-to-drink coffee category, Mountain Dew Amp and SoBe Adrenaline Rush
