1. Quantity and pacing of Instruction
· The amount of learned is related to opportunity to learn
· Student achievement is influenced by classroom organization and management that result in increased student engaged time
· Engagement rates depend on teacher's abilities to make academic activities run smoothly
· teacher must be effective in diagnosing learning needs and prescribing appropriate activities
2. Whole-Class, Small-Class, Individualized Instruction
· Whole-Class instruction is usually more effective because it is simpler and doesn't tie the teacher to a specific group
· Small-Class, Individualized Instruction are more difficult to organize, but grouping may be most effective in heterogeneous classes
