1.Simple protection system
Almost all the e-currency nowadays uses the password authentication. It is the method that people use a secret number and letter as their password to log in a website or an account. All the online shopping websites have to use this method in protecting and control their customer. All the users are asked to set up a password for a bank account. The password authentication is considered as the basic protection for every internet banking system.
2.The password authentication _ PIN/ TAN system and signature system.
Signature system is the system that user register their typical signature as the certification for payment. The signature imagines is stored on a smart card or memory system. All the data finally been transferred to the signature banking (Password security Bank in America). The signature system is most useful for credits card, when people go shopping and sign after any payment.
PIN/TAN is the system using 2 passwords. PIN isthe common - known password, we are requested to set up it when open a new account. It’s used for login, normal withdrawal and some simple transactions. In contrast, TAN is the 2nd password, only can be used for one time, in authenticating transactions. TANs couldn’t be set up by us; it is randomly set by banking system. SMS-mobile phone system, portal letter or token systemsare possible devices to send TANS to customer. After being used, TANS is cleared and no longer be valid
3.Hacker
However, the hackers are so un-imaginable, they are able to break down all the possible security system. Login data is the hottest problem. There are a lot of attack on the customer’s data, making invalid transactions and spoil all the banking system. Although PIN/ TAN system is a possible solution, it’sstill not strong enough.
Recently, there are 2 famous attacks: Man in the Middle (MitM) and Man in the Browser (MitB). MitM is the system that produces a fake transaction between customer and banking. They “draw” a middle position party, which accepts all the customer order without any notice to the bank. In the same method, it makes a fake account and contact with banking system. MitM involve in all transactions and gain benefits from both parties.
