1. Introduction of Virgin Group
- Virgin Group is a British international group and one of the world’s most respected brands. This group founded in 1970 by Richard Branson. This group consists of more than 200 companies around the world. Maybe, in 2012, it consists of more than 400 companies. These group core successful businesses are travel, leisure, music, entertainment etc.
Especially, Richard Branson of CEO is Virgin group representative and one of image, value in Virgin group. So-called, Virgin group is not working well without Richard Branson.
2. The Expansion and Development of Virgin
-Due to the expansion and Persian Gulf War (1990-91), Virgin faced problem of capital.
-In this situation, CEO started doing joint venture to deal with capital problem
-Also, he sold Virgin Music which was main business as a solution of capital need and could support new businesses such as airlines and travel.
-There were three types of opportunity to do new ventures in disparate markets.
① Privatization and deregulation
② Direct selling of goods and services to consumers
③The boom of Technology, Media and Telecom
-He did so many new ventures, it made him release equity from established and growing businesses to support the new ventures in finance way.
